Buttermilk Biscuits

All I can say is YUMMY! What is better than a warm, buttery biscuit?

2 cups self-rising flour
1 tsp sugar
1/8 cup butter
1/8 cup shortening
3/4 - 1 cup buttermilk
2 TBSP melted buttter.

Preheat oven to 450. Measure and sift flour and sugar into mixing bowl. Cut butter and shortening into the flour mixture. While slowly adding buttermilk, stir with a spoon until flour , shortening and butter mixture is moistened. Do not overmix. Turn dough on floured surface. Roll out dough and cut with floured cutter. Arrange buscuits in baking pan so that each buscuit is slightly touching the one next to it. Bake for 10-14 minutes. Remove from oven and brush tops with melted butter.
