Hearty Heartwarming Chili

Today it was still pretty cold out. I figured I had better make some chili because tomorrow it will start warming up and by Thursday be 70! (If the weather man knows what he's talking about) This is a really great chili recipe I've had for at least 5 years. I hadn't made it yet this winter and it sounded really good. I'm still feeling miserable... I ate WAY to much. This recipe is less than 85 cents per serving, so enjoy a bowl... or two.

HEARTY HEARTWARMING CHILI
1 pound ground beef
1 pound ground pork
1 medium onion, chopped
1/2 cup chopped green pepper
2 cups water
1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
2 cans (15 ounces) pinto beans, rinsed and drained
1 can (14-1/2 ounces) diced tomatoes, undrained
1 can tomato paste
1 envelope chili seasoning
1/4 teaspoon garlic salt

Cook beef, pork, onion and green pepper over medium heat until meat is no longer pink and vegetables are tender; drain. Add the water, tomato sauce, beans, tomatoes, tomato paste, chili seasoning and garlic salt. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, until heated through. Serve with cheese, sour cream, green onions and/or hot peppers if desired. 8-10 servings.
