Old-School Peanut Butter Squares

If you couldn't already tell, we're HUGE peanut butter fans. These peanut butter squares are definitely a favorite. They taste just like the ones we had in elementary school... hence the name old-school. We weren't suppose to trade food in elementary school and I loved these so much I tried swapping something for them under the table and got caught. I spent the rest of the lunch period with my head down. To bad I didn't get to eat the peanut butter square, it would've been worth it!

OLD-SCHOOL PEANUT BUTTER SQUARES
1 cup light corn syrup
1 cup sugar
1 cup peanut butter
5 cups crisp rice cereal (puffed rice)

Combine corn syrup and sugar in medium saucepan. Stir until well blended and cook on medium heat until boiling, stirring occasionally. Let boil for about 30 seconds and remove from heat. Stir in peanut butter and mix until well blended. Stir in cereal and mix until well blended. Pour into greased 9 x 13 pan. Lightly spray hands with cooking spray and then press mixture into pan. Cool and then cut into squares.

This is excellent timing!! My husband is going on a road trip and I've been searching for something (that won't melt) to pack in his lunch. Thanks so much for posting this.

Yum! Yum! Tonight just might have to be an "old school" dessert night! :)

Thanks for stopping by my blog today and that's crazy that we both have a daughter named Mikayla (or Makayla).
I made lots of these treats when my kids were young. We all still like them, as they never go out of style. Yours look yummy!
I may have to try these this weekend. Simple and my husband would LOVE them. Found you on SITS. LOVE LOVE LOVE your title picture.

I made this treat just a few days ago - except we use corn flakes. My boys (3 little & one hubby) love these!

Thanks for your comment on my blog - you should definitely try the skillet baked ziti. It's so easy & yummy, and pretty fast & cheap too.
