Chocolate Cover Crispies

Sophie made it through day one! Besides a little bus mishap, she really liked school... although she's refusing t0 ride the bus the remainder of summer school (which only lasts 2 weeks and is purely for fun). The regular bus driver doesn't do summer school and the new one completely missed our bus stop and turned a block early. I had to get into the car and quickly chase the bus. I finally got it to stop a few blocks away by honking. I jumped out of the car, ready to kick the drivers butt, and told him he forgot my child. He told me he would have gotten her home eventually! Needless to say, she was terrified. I promised her I would drive her to school and pick her up and she was excited to go back today. No tears at all. The reason for her crying yesterday morning was because she hated not knowing anyone on the bus. She said she will ride the bus come fall when school starts again because Makayla will be there to share her seat.
If I'm not making sense today it's because I've been awake since 2:45 am. We had to drive my husband to the air port early this morning to catch a plane to California. Brad will be gone until Friday night. He went for his little sisters graduation. This is his first time flying and he was a wee bit scared! This is also the first time he has been away from home. The kids are going to miss him. That's why I'm bribing them to be good with these no bake bars. They're super yummy!

CHOCOLATE COVERED CRISPIES
4 Milky Way candy bars (2.05 ounces each), cut up
3/4 cup butter, cubed, divided
3 cups crisp rice cereal
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

In a saucepan over low heat or in a microwave-safe bowl, melt candy bars and 1/2 cup butter; stir until blended. Stir in cereal. Pat into a greased 11-in. x 7-in. pan. In another saucepan or microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips and remaining butter; stir until smooth. Spread over cereal mixture. Refrigerate until firm. Cut in squares.

The bus sure can be scary. I would have been mad at that driver as well! I'm glad today was better.

The bars look great. I love the Milky Way in there! :0)
