Jim Bob's Amazing BBQ

I know what you're thinking... You think I have done lost my marbles (if you aren't thinking that you must not have looked at the ingredients to this recipe yet)! So, before you turn up your nose and discount this recipe please listen to my advice. Don't knock it til you try it. I found this one in Jim Bob and Michelle Duggars book The Duggars: 20 and Counting! and thought if they all love it, then it must be good. I had the tuna and bbq sauce. I just figured if it was yucky I could just throw it away. I started off mixing a few spoonfuls of the tuna with the sauce (I didn't want to waste all the tuna if it was gross). I took one bite and immediately starting mixing the whole can with the sauce. It's really good! It doesn't taste like tuna at all. You must try this. Seriously! You could eat it on crackers, rice cakes, toast, or on bread like a sandwich. I loved the story behind this recipe in the book too. Michelle was away at a week long conference and Jim Bob was left to feed the kids (there were only 8 or so at the time). He went to make tuna sandwiches and couldn't find the mayo, so being resourceful he dumped in bbq sauce and it was an immediate hit. This is the way the family actually prefers it now. I think it looks very good (it's after you learn the ingredients you start turning your nose up). Speaking of looking good.... did anyone check out the finale of Biggest Loser last night? Never mind how great the contestants looked, did you see how amazing Allison Sweeney looked after delivering her daughter in January?!? What a knockout.

JIM BOB'S AMAZING BBQ
6 cans tuna, well drained
1 18 oz. bottle bbq sauce (they suggest Kansas City Masterpiece)
Mash tuna in a mixing bowl to break apart. Add bbq sauce and mix (the more sauce the better). Spread on bread, buns, or crackers.
*I scaled this recipe down. I mixed one tuna pouch with enough bbq sauce to coat it very well

This is worth a try. I will have to wait until my low carb BBQ sauce comes in the mail.

It certainly sounds different, but I don't see why it wouldn't taste good. I love anything with BBQ sauce!

My husband absolutely refuses to even be in the same room as "tuna", but I'm half tempted to mix up this recipe and have him try it on a cracker--I'm not going to tell him what it is, until he eats it. You may have finally come up with an idea for me, Heidi, as to how to get my husband to eat tuna :) Thank you in advance!

I love tuna and I love bbq sauce so... I'll try just about anything that isn't moving!

I wonder how they thought of that? Maybe one of their kids just threw it together one day and it was an instant hit!

I can't stand tuna...but you've actually tempted me into wanting to try this! Hmmm...maybe there's room for "fish" after all?! (:

I'm not sure if I'm brave enough to try this one??? I'm not a tuna fan. Looks interesting.

Very interesting recipe. I'll have to sneak this one in on my family. I also think I need to get that book at the library.

I love tuna but honestly never thought to try it with BBQ sauce, though. I'm glad to hear you liked it... I just have to get over the 'idea' of it, like you said! :)

It definitely looks like an interesting last minute meal. We've got seafood allergies in our house though, so we'll have to try it with a can of chicken instead.
