Milk Dud Treats for National Teacher's Day

In celebration of National Teacher's Day we made these yummy no bake treat bars. I love these treats because they're made in the microwave and don't heat up the kitchen. They're perfect for a hot summer day. Makayla's teacher likes chocolate, so we thought these bars would be a nice, chocolaty change from the regular marshmallow or peanut butter rice krispy treat. The melted milk duds give it a nice ribbon of caramel throughout. YUMMY! Everyone's really enjoyed eating these bars. I hope Miss Morris enjoys them too.

MILK DUD TREATS
2 cups chocolate chips
1/4 cup butter-flavored shortening
5 cups crisp rice cereal
1 package (10 oz) milk duds
1 TBSP water

Combine chocolate chips and shortening. Cover and microwave until melted (1-2 minutes). Stir. Stir in cereal. In another bowl combine milk duds and water. Microwave 30-45 seconds or until pourable; mix well. Stir in cereal mixture. Press into buttered 9 x 13 pan. Refrigerate 30 minutes and then cut into bars.

It is safe to say I probably shouldn't make these for the simple fact I more than likely wouldn't be able to control my ability to eat the entire pan by myself!!
Oh my lord, these look amazing. Milk Duds are my favorite candy when I go to the movies. I'm for sure making these...thanks!

Yum!!! My son is really big into helping me in the kitchen lately, so I like the idea of them being made in the microwave, instead of him insisting he wants to stand over the stove or open the oven!
I love Milk Duds and know I would love this piece of decadence!
These sound wonderful! As a teacher, I have to say 'Thanks!' for thinking about your kid's teacher during this week!
