Mozzarella Sticks

These yummy mozzarella sticks are only one of the 13 recipes I wanted to try from the newest issue of Simple & Delicious magazine... 13, can you believe it?!? The taste of home crew outdid themselves this month. Some issues really disappointment me without one recipe I want to try, and then others are jam packed with greatness. I served these with the Spaghetti Tacos and it was a meal all of my kids really enjoyed. The egg roll wrappers get crunchy and the cheese's melty and gooey. YUMMY! My mouth's watering thinking out these scrumptious appetizers.

MOZZARELLA STICKS
12 pieces string cheese
12 egg roll wrappers
Oil for deep-fat frying
Marinara or spaghetti sauce

Place a piece of string cheese near the bottom corner of one egg roll wrapper (keep remaining wrappers covered with a damp paper towel until ready to use). Fold bottom corner over cheese. Roll up halfway; fold sides toward center over cheese (like you would for an egg roll). Moisten remaining corner with water; roll up tightly to seal. Repeat with remaining wrappers and cheese. In a skillet, heat 1/2 in. of oil to 375°. Fry sticks, a few at a time, for 30-60 seconds on each side or until golden brown. Drain on paper towels. Serve with marinara sauce.

Ah, yes! When I saw this in my last S&D, I couldn't believe how clever someone was to figure out a non-messy prep for mozzarella sticks!! :-D

I'll have to try them on our next "Fry Night."

these loook amazing....although i have to admit my last experience with hot oil and "deep frying" did not go well. It ended with smoke detectors and all the doors and windows open lol
