Looking for cheap? Looking for easy? Look no farther! This is possibly the white-trashiest recipe I've ever posted. How do I know you ask? I found it in White Trash Cooking... my latest cookbook from the library. I've really enjoyed this book... maybe a little too much! This recipe's a lot like my goulash recipe only it uses different noodles and doesn't have any green peppers. I love the fact it only uses 4 ingredients making it super inexpensive... OK, it's down right cheap! Not many meals make enough for a small army (I still have a HUGE zip loc bag full in the fridge) and only cost about 60 cents per serving. Enjoy :)
SLUM-GULLION (recipe written exactly from the cookbook)
Cook some elbow macaroni-plenty. Brown minced onion (stronger the better) and hamburger in a skillet. Add 1 can Delmonte tomatoes, salt, pepper and all the macaroni you got. Simmer til you can't stand it any longer, then take it off the fire and dive in. This is especially good when you're in a hurry-up day, like when there's a funeral, an auction, or flag-burning at the Legion Hall.
SLUM-GULLION (how I made it)
1/2 lb elbow macaroni
1 lb ground beef
1 large onion, diced
1 can (28 oz) Delmonte diced tomatoes
salt and pepper
Cook macaroni according to package directions. Meanwhile brown ground beef with onion in skillet and drain. Return to skillet and add can of tomatoes. Season with salt and pepper to taste and add cooked macaroni. Simmer 5 - 10 minutes before serving (it grows the longer you cook it!!)

I'm going to have to find White Trash Cooking at my library! That's great!!!
I like the way she says Simmer till you can't stand it any longer. For an Italian Nonna (Grandmother), that could be weeks. lol.
A recipe to feed an army? Sounds good to me!
And we called it slumgullion - I thought we made that up!
