Marshmallow Roses

Miss Picky Pants Makayla thought she HAD to have the bag of large strawberry flavored marshmallows from the grocery store. I wouldn't buy them, but mom went grocery shopping this morning and as you can see, I have very spoiled children! I read the back of the bag for something fun to do with them. The kids had their fill of the marshmallows and I know from previous experience they would set in the cabinet and go stale (this is the reason I wouldn't buy them). I had some white candy coating, sprinkles and sucker sticks and came up with this idea. I thought it turned out adorable. I put them in a little flour pot (my trick to getting them to stand in the pot was to fill it with play-doh). I don't know about you, but I think I'm quite clever. Wouldn't they make great party favors? They would also be delicious dipped in plain chocolate. Strawberry and chocolate go great together. Why am I a janitor girl?... I think I need a show or book or something! (Ok, so I can dream) I hope you guys try these out and enjoy them as much as we did ;)

MARSHMALLOW ROSES
large marshmallows (I used strawberry flavored)
white chocolate coating (regular chocolate would be great too)
sprinkles (nuts or toasted coconut would be yummy)
sucker sticks

Place sticks into marshmallows. Melt candy coating. Dip marshmallows halfway into the chocolate and twist slightly to get a twirly effect. Sprinkle with sprinkles.

Great idea! You really could add this to some innovative cook book...just watch...it'll be the next recipe floating around on all the blogs! (:

What a good grandma... I'd have done the same thing ;) These pops are adorable! You could even make a s'more out of them by using dark chocolate and sprinkling crushed graham crackers on them instead of candy sprinkles!
They are gorgeous and very elegant looking! I think they would make a festive looking centerpiece for any celebration!

You are quite clever! Very cute idea. You could also stick them in a terra cotta pot full of dirt pudding. I saw the Pioneer Woman do that with real flowers, but this would be even better!

My children are also spoiled by their grandparents. I won't buy them something, but one outing with grandma and suddenly the denied object appears in our house!

Oh yeah, I definitely have that love/hate relationship with marshmallows. Buy a bag for something that uses maybe 1/2 the bag, then feel guilty when the other half goes unused for so long the marshmallows either melt into one big glob or turn into little rocks. Or worse, your kids think they can now have them anytime because the bag is open and there are no plans for the rest. UGH! These roses, however, could give the relationship another chance....Happy SITS day!

This is a great idea! My youngest daughter keeps begging me for some of those pink marshmallows too and I also keep saying NO! Perhaps I should get a bag as a fun treat...and I'll definitely be making those pretty roses with them. I bet my girls would come unglued for them!
I've made hershey kiss roses before with flower wrap, metal wire and two hershey kisses, but never thought of this! I love it!

Cute idea! Thanks for sharing. Congrats on being the SITS featured blogger today. Those marshmallow brownies look amazing too! I love the banner picture, that's a lot like what it looks like when I try to cook. I had a blog called I Cook for Survival but lately I haven't even been doing that. Just eating cereal for dinner. Cute blog!

I can almost feel the cavities I'd get from this, but it would be worth it. Those look great, and not too complicated to make. I like your trick with the playdough to get them to stay straight in the pot.

Love your blog, (though I better not browse hungry )happy Sits day!
