Happy Easter everyone! I hope everyone has a great day. Every year we go to my Grandma's house (just next door). She had 12 children (11 are living). While a lot of them do Easter with their children, many still come to Grandma's. You never know if there will be 15 people or 40! One thing you can count on is great food. I will be toting my camera over to take pictures of the spread and will get lots of recipes to share. The kids and I had a lot of fun making these bird nests. We found the recipe on Kara's Kitchen Creations and Makayla said I had to make them. The nests are a little tricky to form, but they turn out adorable! YUMMY BIRD NESTS 3 Tbsp butter or margarine 4 cups mini marshmallows 1 tsp vanilla 4 cups rice krispies
Melt butter in a large bowl in the microwave. Add marshmallows and cook until melted (between 1 minute and 1 1/2 minutes), stirring often. Add vanilla and cereal and stir to combine. Spray hands with cooking spray and shape into nests and place on waxed paper. Let cool until set. (As the nests cool, gravity starts pulling the sides back down. Just push them back together.) Fill with jelly beans.
I'm a previous stay-at-home mom of 8 years who joined the working world again as the Food Service Director over our local school district and a high school lunch lady. I have 3 kiddies. Makayla (Miss Picky Pants) is 14, Sophie (Worm) is 13 and Chase's 9. I LOVE to cook! If you're looking for plain ol' mom food... you're in the right place! I'm always looking to cook up new recipes and simple, inexpensive meals. My goal's to share old favorites and to make new ones. Thanks to everyone who stops by and visits my blog! You inspire me to keep posting (even when I have a difficult time managing my time!)
