Slow Cooker Italian Herb Chicken

If you're looking for a super simple supper recipe you're in the right place. A few weeks ago Cindy from Three on Food posted this great one. Everyone in her family enjoyed it (as did mine), so I knew it was a must try. This recipe's actually on the back on the McCormick Slow Cookers Italian Herb Chicken Seasoning packet. If McCormick liked it well enjoy to put it on the back on the packet, then I figured it must be a winner. You can't get any easier than this 5 ingredient main dish. I threw everything in the crockpot in the morning and by afternoon my house smelled amazing. My kids kept asking me if it was time to eat because it smelled so good. Miss Picky-Pants Makayla even enjoyed this dish (minus the chicken). The McCormick website advertises this dish coming it at under $2.00 per serving. Well, I have them beat. By using chicken thighs (Brads favorite) I got this dish to ring in at only 93 cents per serving!

SLOW COOKER ITALIAN HERB CHICKEN
2 1/2 pounds bone-in chicken parts, skin removed
1 package (8 oz) mushrooms, halved or sliced
1 package McCormick Slow Cookers Italian Herb Chicken Seasoning
2 cans stewed tomatoes, undrained
1 can (6 oz) tomato paste

Place chicken and mushrooms in slow cooker. Mix seasoning, tomatoes and tomato paste until blended. Pour over chicken and mushrooms. Cover. Cook 8 hours on LOW or 4 hours on HIGH. Stir sauce before serving. Serve over hot cooked pasta. 8 servings

I can't get enough slow-cooker recipes! This looks really good!!! I'm jealous that your family will eat mushrooms--my husband refuses and I think he's influencing my son, as well!!!

Rachel- Me and my husband both love mushrooms, but none of the kids would try them. More for me! We had a lot of leftovers, so i'm looking forward to lunch today!

I'm not a huge fan of the slow cooker but this dish makes me want to pull the slow cooker out and use it. Yummy!

Norah- I'm not one to use my slow cooker to often. Yes, it is easy, but normally I end up feeling like the dish has been over cooked. This wasn't that way at all. It turned out perfect on low for 8 hours. I think I'm going to check out more of those McCormick slow cooker seasoning packets for ideas.

I think I am going to have to give this one a try. Thanks for sharing!
Heidi... I agree with you. I LOVE my slow cooker, but I feel like I am always babysitting it and turning it off early as things tend to taste over-cooked. This one looks great! Let us know which other McCormick dishes you try!

Heidi,

I'm glad you liked it, but it was actually my good bud Cindy from Three on Food that posted that recipe. So, I can't take the credit. We've tried it too and loved it. So, easy - who wouldn't love it!!! ;)
