Sore Loser :(

I would love to announce I won the $1000, but I didn't :( The grocery money would have come in so handy, especially since I just found out this week's my last week working. I was told I would be working until January, but the lady who got hurt was released and so this will be it. There's nothing like being a hurt dog and getting kicked. I was already bummed today about not winning the contest and then I had more bad news. This isn't my week! I had fun at the cook-off. Above is a picture of me preparing my plates. I then had to take them to the judges and explain the recipe. I was so nervous!! I was the first one to go, so that made it even worse. Even though I didn't win I did get a wonderful compliment from the radio personality who hosted. He told me he had checked out my website and thought it was slick! Even though this dish didn't take first I still feel it's a winner. I have received so many great comments from you how could it not be?

Here I am right before taking them to the judges. I guess I'm just a sore loser because I feel like they didn't pick the best way to judge. The judges filled out the score card and then turned it in before the next person served their dish. How did they have anything to compare mine too? We were judged on appearance and taste. Shouldn't they have looked at everyones dishes together to judge appearance and then tasted them and judge them after trying everyones? I also think it was wrong for them to even know who made what until after they judged.

Here's a picture of the judges (seated) and the contestants (standing). The girl to the far left was the winner with her sloppy joe under a bun (sloppy joe covered with Bisquick and baked). All the recipes looked great.

So that's the end of my pitty party for one! I hope everyone's having a better week than me :)

I'm sorry about the contest and your job. Your dish looked pretty tasty to me! And, truthfully, the winning dish doesn't sound very good!

Awww... I'd totally pick you over sloppy joes under a bun!

I am most displeased that a sloppy joe on a bisquick bun was placed above yours. Yes, I think I'd be grossly disappointed too.

And boo hiss on that judge who didn't like you. Well, I don't like her either, so there!!

Seriously? Sloppy Joes over your dish? Hmmmmpf. Such a bummer about your job and losing. Things will look up soon. I just feel it.

Don't be too down. We all know that you make awesome things. Who cares what they think!

I hope that things look up. What type of work do you do?

So sorry you didn't win. I really thought your recipe looked the best. I agree that the judges should have tried everything before scoring the points. Very lame!

Sloppy Joes are GROSS and she should have been disqualified for even serving them. UGH

I admire you for entering...that takes courage to set yourself to be judged by strangers...

Yours was obviously the superior dish, what was wrong with those judges? And I totally agree with you that the way the judging was done was unfair. I'm so sorry!
I am also sorry about your job, but keep your chin up and eyes open - another job will find you! You are in my prayers.

Here from SITS! Sorry for the bad news on top of bad news. I agree that wasn't the best way for the judges to judge.

What do they say..."when it rains, it pours"? Sorry to hear your having a bad week. The judging DOES sound unfair/wrong...hang in there Heidi!! Stay positive.

I'm so sorry you didn't win the contest, and that your job is ending. Tomorrow will come whether we want it to or not, so rest up, honey, and get a fresh start in the morning. God's got you in the palm of His hand, whether you can feel it or not.

Tacky way to judge. Doesn't seem adequate. Looked great though. Sorry about this being your last week. You could start your own cooking show. I'd watch :o) My week wasn't that great - but reading your food blogs help bring my smile back :o)

I really don't care for sloppy joes. That stinks! Your recipe is much more to my liking. I would have given you my vote! :)
