I would love to announce I won the $1000, but I didn't :( The grocery money would have come in so handy, especially since I just found out this week's my last week working. I was told I would be working until January, but the lady who got hurt was released and so this will be it. There's nothing like being a hurt dog and getting kicked. I was already bummed today about not winning the contest and then I had more bad news. This isn't my week! I had fun at the cook-off. Above is a picture of me preparing my plates. I then had to take them to the judges and explain the recipe. I was so nervous!! I was the first one to go, so that made it even worse. Even though I didn't win I did get a wonderful compliment from the radio personality who hosted. He told me he had checked out my website and thought it was slick! Even though this dish didn't take first I still feel it's a winner. I have received so many great comments from you how could it not be?
Here I am right before taking them to the judges. I guess I'm just a sore loser because I feel like they didn't pick the best way to judge. The judges filled out the score card and then turned it in before the next person served their dish. How did they have anything to compare mine too? We were judged on appearance and taste. Shouldn't they have looked at everyones dishes together to judge appearance and then tasted them and judge them after trying everyones? I also think it was wrong for them to even know who made what until after they judged.
Here's a picture of the judges (seated) and the contestants (standing). The girl to the far left was the winner with her sloppy joe under a bun (sloppy joe covered with Bisquick and baked). All the recipes looked great.

So that's the end of my pitty party for one! I hope everyone's having a better week than me :)

And boo hiss on that judge who didn't like you. Well, I don't like her either, so there!!
I hope that things look up. What type of work do you do?
I admire you for entering...that takes courage to set yourself to be judged by strangers...
I am also sorry about your job, but keep your chin up and eyes open - another job will find you! You are in my prayers.
tried one of your recipes yesterday, we loved it!
Sorry to hear about your loss and job. :(
This coming week is a good one!
